European Cyber Security Month 2021

Today, is the start of this years’ European Cyber Security Month! Every year, throughout October, individuals and organisations promote and showcase the importance of cyber security, and how this can benefit both our work and private lives.

As technologies advance, so do the tactics cyber criminals use to try and compromise your devices and data – with the growing dependency both businesses and individuals have on online resources, cyber security is more prevalent than ever. Having the knowledge in what you can do to ensure you remain secure, is an absolute must in today’s ever-evolving digital world. With this in mind, we are excited to be taking part in this years’ ECSM – throughout the month, we will be providing a variety of resources to help keep you, and your business, secure.

This Years’ Theme

This years’ ECSM campaign is #ThinkB4UClick, with themes for this month being ‘First Aid’ and ‘Be Cyber Secure At Home’. The main objectives for 2021 is to ensure that both individuals and organisations are well informed on potential cyber security risks and how to stay safe online. The general intention is to help develop a basic understanding of the different types of online security and privacy issues.

Our Agenda

For the first two weeks of October, we will exclusively be exploring ‘Be Cyber Secure At Home’ – by providing resources to help you ensure your personal and work devices are secure, as well as advice on best practises with cyber security. The second two weeks, we will be covering ‘First Aid’, by providing guidance and advice on what do to if you or your business falls victim to a cyber attack or breach.

To kickstart this years’ ECSM, we will be offering our Remote Working module from our e-Learning service, Mitilearn, as a free resource for users to access and complete. Our CPD-approved module will give you a flavour of home-working security, as well as highlighting best practises when working remotely.
