A critical update for the Google Chrome Web browser was released at the start of March.
Details of the zero-day vulnerability that the update fixes are currently still restricted ‘until a majority of users are updated with a fix’, but it appears to grant an attacker the ability to execute malicious code on a victim’s device.
To make matters more concerning, Google claim to be ‘aware of reports that an exploit…exists in the wild’. If you or your company are using Google Chrome, it is therefore imperative that you update the software as soon as possible.
The updated version number of Chrome is 72.0.3626.121, and you can find out what version you are running by typing
‘chrome://settings/help’into your URL bar.
You can find more details and speculation about what the vulnerability may be here.
